Dr. Allan Taylor is subject group leader for the Video, Imaging and Sonic Arts (VISA) subject group at Leicester Media School. Allan joins De Montfort from the University of East London where he was academic lead of 11 programmes in the media department and was recognised for his successes in public engagement within the East London community, as well as encouraging enterprise in the creative disciplines. This led to him participating in an exchange project for the the British Council's Creative Spark programme, where he worked with university students in Kazakhstan to create and pitch ideas for their own start-ups. His published research focuses on the intersections between media and performance, and is working on his debut monograph – Performing Authenticity: the performativity of social media imagery.
