Personal profile

I am a Senior Lecturer and Advanced Care Practitioner Paramedic with expertise in professional healthcare education, workforce development and advanced clinical roles in primary and urgent care. I teach on the MSc Physician Associate programme and have held a senior academic role since 2018, alongside ongoing clinical practice.

My work focuses on practice-informed education, regulatory and accreditation processes, interprofessional learning and placement development. I work closely with NHS partners, professional bodies and regulators to support workforce-aligned education and professional standards, and I contribute nationally through regulatory and advisory roles.

My academic interests centre on applied impact, professional regulation and the development of sustainable education models for emerging healthcare roles.

Membership of external committees

Physician Associate School Council (PASC) placement committee. Since 2025. To nationally develop and support placements for Physician Associates, including supporting consistency and quality of placements and advising on national policies and guidelines. 

HCPC Fitness to Practice panel. Since 2024. As the registrant panel member I will hear fitness to practice cases, assess the evidence and apply the HCPC stanrads to determine appropriate outcomes to ensure public protection.

Projects

Development and implementation of the clinical electronic Practice Assessment Document (ePad) to support consistent high-quality assessment of learners in practice settings.

GMC accreditation of the Physician Associate programme. I led on this project, acting as the primary liason with the GMC, providing strategic oversight of curriculum alignment, quality assurance and regulatory compliance. This resulted in the successful accreditation of the programme.

Developing and facilitating Interprofessional Education Programmes (IPE)

Conference attendance

The Multi-disciplinary conference 2024 - Shaping your future within primary Care. In conjunction with the LLR Training Hub I led on the design and facilitation of the conference.

Consultancy work

Workforce development and education for emerging and advanced clinical roles. This includes advising on the development and implementation of ARRS roles, supporting training pathways, and contributing to the expansion and sustainability of high-quality student and trainee placements across primary care.
