Personal profile

I am a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences. I am also a member of the Shadow Academic Board and reviewer/mentor for DMU Professional Recognition Scheme here at DMU Leicester. I have a PhD in Molecular Haematology (UWE Bristol) and PGCert in Academic Practice (University of Brighton). I started my career as a Biomedical Scientist; worked in the NHS and hospital laboratories in Nigeria. As a result, I am a HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist and a Fellow of Institute of Biomedical Scientist.

As an academic, I am a Fellow of the Advance HE (FHEA) and teach and supervise students at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. My research focus includes chemotherapy-induced bystander effect, cancer microenvironment and stem cell biology. I am also focused on translational sciences involving extracellular vesicles and blood cells, natural products and blood cancers and understanding the effect of diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cancers on fertility of women. My research work is at the intersection of Cancer Microenvironment, Extracellular Vesicles and Translational Sciences. I am also passionate about empowering HLS students with entrepreneurial skills and mindset to become entrepreneurial scientists
