Roger Lawrence has been a Councillor in Wolverhampton for more years than he is prepared to admit. He is currently Leader of the Council a post he also held from2002-2008. He is active in the LGA (on the European and International Panel) and a former member of AWM the regional development agency for the West Midlands. He is also Treasurer of the Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA) a Strasbourg based NGO working to promote local democracy and civil society in European Neighbourhood counties.
Roger has an MA in Community Studies from Keele and an MSc in Policy Studies from Bristol. He also has a D Soc Sci from Bristol based on research on Cross-border Collaboration in Central and Eastern Europe.
Other research interests include capacity building, partnership working and migration issues. He was previously an Associate Fellow at Warwick and was a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Migration Policy Studies (Compas) at Oxford.
