Personal profile

Marian Evans is a lecturer in Enterprise in the Department of Management and Enterprise at De Montfort University. Her research work focuses on entrepreneurial small business decision-making and growth from a cognitive perspective.  This work reflects her keen interest and experience in entrepreneurial SMEs. She completed her Executive MBA at DMU, winning best student performance award in 2012 and more recently, her PhD on small business opportunity-related decision-making.

Marian gained her B.Ed. degree at Cambridge University and after teaching in London and Peterborough moved into entrepreneurial small business in the manufacturing sector as an owner-manager and later as a director of a manufacturing company in Peterborough. She is now a director of her own consultancy business and works in industry as an assessor for Business Improvement Techniques (Lean manufacturing). She also delivers CMI (Chartered Management Institute)  qualifications and writes and moderates international qualifications in manufacturing for the City and Guilds awarding body. She is an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) for CMI.
