Personal profile

André has lectured at the Law School since 1997.  On the LLB programmes, André lectures contract and European law.  He also teaches on the sports law module.  On the LLM, he is responsible for competition law I and event management law.  In addition, he has taught international trade, consumer and commercial law.  His main areas of research relate to European law, consumer law and commercial law and these are the areas of his published work.  In addition, Andre is the current author and editor of the ITC manual on European Union law.

Beyond teaching and research, André is the external examiner for business law at the University of Nottingham and for various modules on the International Commercial Law LLM at Swansea University.  Along with Gavin Dingwall, Andre co-organised the 2012 Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA) Annual Conference.  This took place at the Leicester De Montfort law school which hosted 300 delegates and featured speakers from over 20 countries.  André is also a member of the SLSA Executive Committee and is also a Chair of the Leicestershire School (Admission) Appeals Panel which is part of tribunal system of England & Wales.

Membership of external committees

School (Admission) Appeals Panel for Leicestershire since 2005 (Panel Chair since 2010).  This is appeal panel is part of the Tribunal system for England & Wales.  It is the final opportunity to appeal against the Local Authority’s decision to refuse admission to a particular school.  It is governed by legislation and its decisions are binding.
