Personal profile

Dr Amila Jayarathne is a Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University, UK. Prior to this appointment, she served as a Professor of Marketing in the Department of Marketing Management at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), Sri Lanka. She has also worked as a part time Teaching Assistant at Nottingham University Business School, UK, during her doctoral studies.

She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from USJ, a Master’s in Public Policy from Japan, an MSc in Management from USJ, and a PhD from Nottingham University Business School, UK. She has been the recipient of several prestigious scholarships, including awards from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (UK), and fellowships from Monash University (Australia), and Xi’an Jiaotong University (China).
Dr Jayarathne publishes widely in high profile international conferences, scholarly books, and reputable indexed journals. Her research expertise spans digitalisation and sustainability at both firm and supply chain levels. She has received multiple awards, both locally and internationally, in recognition of her exceptional research performance. She serves on several editorial boards, including as Senior Editor of the South Asian Journal of Marketing and as an Editor for PLOS ONE.

Throughout her career in the higher education sector, she has led and contributed to numerous impactful research projects, collaborating with scholars from Sri Lanka, India, the UK, Sweden, China, and Australia. She has also served as a resource person for a range of workshops, seminars, and webinars, supporting both academic and professional communities.
