BUCS Week 14 Round-Up

On Wednesday we headed over to Beaumont Park to check out the fantastic new 3G pitch at the facility. It’s very impressive, so be sure to head on over if you get a chance to cheer on #TeamDMU!

Our first match of the day saw the Lacrosse Men’s 1st taking on Lincoln, playing for the first time on the new pitch.  There was plenty of enthusiasm from the home team to make up for the chill in the air, and the game got off to a fast and exciting start.

At the end of the first quarter DMU were down 1-0 to Lincoln but there was still plenty of time to turn it around.  They proved that they were more than prepared to give Lincoln a run for their money, and pulled one back early in the second quarter to make it one-all.

Both teams scored again in quick succession and it was looking set to be a tight match.

But Lincoln had an unprecedented burst of energy and by half-time they had reclaimed their lead at 4-2.

Despite a fantastic display of team spirit from DMU it wasn’t enough to hold back the unrelenting Lincoln, who went on to score nine more goals in the next two quarters to bring the final score to 13-2.

That wasn’t all for the day however, and there wasn’t even time for a break before DMU Men’s 1st Football team took on Cambridge 2nds at 3pm.

DMUFC were obviously undeterred by the cold weather that afternoon, and proved that they had more than enough fire to make up for it by scoring a confident goal in the first half.

Another neat shot on our side took the score to 2-0 to DMU at half-time.

Tensions in the second half were raised on the Cambridge side, but DMU kept their cool and scored again, thoroughly cementing their lead.  There was some excellent footwork as they put the away team through their paces.  They were making it look easy!

But DMU were not prepared to rest on their laurels and were determined to keep a clean sheet.  They quickly scored again, bringing the final score to a fantastic 4-0.  A brilliant performance from the home team and a really exciting game.

It turned out to be a big day all round for the DMU Men’s football, with not a single goal conceded between the four games taking place that afternoon!
