High scoring #TeamDMU welcome the new sports season with a bang

It had promised to excite and on Wednesday afternoon, #TeamDMU did not disappoint as they welcomed the return of British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) season with a series of dazzling displays.

De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) sports clubs recorded emphatic results with Women's Football Second Team and Men's Table Tennis stealing the headlines.

DMU Women's Football Second Team were hoping for a non-repeat of last season’s bottom-placed finish when they faced Nottingham Trent University Fourth Team at Beaumont Park in BUCS Midlands Division 4A.

Not only did they secure their first ever victory in BUCS, but they doubled their goal tally for the whole of last season, with an 8-1 thrashing of their opponents.

Club chair and second team player Tyler Kent, said: “The girls put in so much work for this game and have thoroughly prepared themselves, which makes the win even more deserved.

“With the help of our brand new coach and dedicated players, it was great to see all of our hard work pay off.”
