For Jessie Drabble, it was the chance to learn more about trend forecasting, the area of fashion in which she wants to work.

She said: “It was an amazing experience. We had a whole presentation from the different teams who talked about how they do their research, how they look at trends and get their inspiration which is the part I would like to work in. We have a trend forecasting system we use when we are designing our collections.

“It is fascinating to see how they decide what the Victoria’s Secret girl will wear in 2018. They had such a focus on the Victoria’s Secret girl – what she would be doing, what music she likes, what films she watches. To be able to learn so much and see how they work was amazing, we were just in awe.”

The students were able to watch presentations from the different teams and ask questions of them.

Mollie Falkingham was impressed by the sheer size of the operation. She said: “They have a whole team that looks at colour. A whole team that comes up with names for different shades and the themes for collections. They were so generous with their time, and sharing the way they work.”

Ffion Piper added: “Being able to visit Victoria’s Secret was one of those moments we will never forget. We all feel so lucky to have had the opportunity and to be able to see the garments they are working on up close was incredible.”

Gillian Proctor, course leader in Contour Fashion, put together the visit with one of her former pupils who is now Executive Vice-President: Bra Launch and Innovation at Victoria’s Secret, Tracey Randall.

Gillian said: “The Victoria’s Secret team loved their energy and enthusiasm. They were very impressed with the students and their questions!”
