Final-year students to receive employability cash boost

As part of DMU’s continuing support for student employability, the university is introducing a new initiative for all final-year undergraduate students.

The Employability Award will provide £100 to every eligible student to help towards the costs of securing employment.

Employability

Students will receive the financial assistance in January.

The award is the latest in a range of measures the university is taking in line with our commitment to improving student experience and to enhancing student employability.

Other initiatives already helping DMU students maximise their career opportunities include Frontrunners internships, a Unitemps job agency on campus, an employability mentoring scheme and an online portal for career planning and job hunting. We also offer the chance to apply for an additional DMU Employability Travel Bursary.

The university is committed to listening to student feedback and making positive changes. Recently we introduced #loveDMU - a range of further support for our students in order to enhance life on campus.

Dan Winney, President of DSU, said: “It’s vital that students receive the right support when looking for job opportunities and we know that travel costs for interviews, for example, can be prohibitive.”

“I’m delighted that DMU has announced further commitment to employability. This fund is all about making sure that finances aren’t a barrier to students getting the right job which is essential in the competitive job market graduates face when they leave university.”
