Dozens of prizes were award for the best academic performance on different courses within the faculty covering subject areas including accounting, finance, business, marketing, economics and law.

Dinah Mould, winner of two Business and Law awards and who is graduating with a First in Human Resource Management and Psychology, said: “It’s so overwhelming, amazing really.

“I’ve had an amazing time, words can’t really describe my time at DMU. I’ve been given amazing opportunities and some great experiences.

“The lecturers were really supportive and the course itself was brilliant.”

Dinah is now heading off to Dubai to start her new role as a Human Resources Advisor with Seadrill Management Ltd as part of their graduate program, a challenge she is “excited” to get started with.

Nicklas Anchersen, joint winner of the best Advertising and Marketing Communications student award, said: “It’s really good to win the award after four great years at DMU.

“My time here has been really exciting, especially with all the international elements with placements abroad.”

Nicklas is now waiting to start his new role in Brand Marketing with EE in London.

Maria Errol, who won her award for studying Housing Law and who also works as a senior housing options officer, said: “This is a subject area I really enjoy, I can connect with it. It made me question absolutely everything about my day job.

“It’s a really good interesting place with incredibly helpful staff. Everyone’s really lovely, it’s just a really nice learning environment.”

Kerishma Pattni, graduating with a First in Business and Marketing, said: “I feel so overwhelmed and proud. DMU has been really enjoyable, it’s been really worthwhile.”

Kerishma is now planning on applying to do master’s at DMU with a 50 per cent bursary from the Vice-Chancellor’s 2020 Scholarship.

Hosting the awards ceremonies was Martyn Kendrick, head of postgraduate and undergraduate study in the faculty.

“I can honestly say that the standard of this year’s students has been exceptional,” Martyn said. “They’ve worked incredibly hard, they’ve been extremely focused and we’re delighted with their performance. I’m confident that they’ll all go on to enjoy successful careers and I’m pleased that a number of them will be staying with us to go into further study at DMU.”

David Scull, First in Business Management, said a placement year at Aldi had helped him land a business consultancy role at Harmonic Aerospace and Defence. He said: “Placements are the best way to go because you know what employers are after. You can propel yourself into employment.”

Kaxaa Patel, who won an award for outstanding performance in the workplace, did so well on her placement with Cummins Power Generation that bosses created a graduate role for her. She said: “It was one of the best things I have done at university.”
