Extended Education

There is more than one route to achieving your ambitions. As well as degrees, we offer ‘extended education’ - that’s courses that are delivered in the evenings, so you can choose a pathway that suits you.

Our level four courses offer flexible learning that fits around your life and work. They include Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQ), Higher National Certificates (NHC) and Foundation Degrees. They are vocation focused, giving you a technical, practical education and a route to your career without a traditional undergraduate degree.

Get in touch and we’ll help guide you through Extended Education courses, funding options, career opportunities, and any study-related questions.

Why choose our flexible learning courses?

  • Direct career path - you’ll get practical, hands-on experience in a highly-skilled area, and a direct route to career success and higher earning potential

  • Flexible study - you can study in the evenings (one or two per week), both in person and online, leaving you free for work or family commitments.

  • Industry recognition and demand – courses are developed with employers who are looking for people with the specific industry-skills you’ll get from the course.

Who are the courses for?

Our courses are suitable for people who want a technical, career-focused qualification through practical, skills-based training and flexible learning that fits their lifestyle.

The courses also make a good foundation for further study.

They particularly suit:

  • over 18s who want to achieve a qualification within a year

  • adults who want to change career

  • adults who want to upskill or gain a qualification to progress in their career

How long do they take?

Courses can be completed in one year full-time (two evenings per week) or two years part-time (one evening per week). The exception to this is the Early Years Education foundation course which takes two years and is full-time only.

How much do the courses cost?

These extended education courses are an investment in your future career. They’re designed to give you the skills, knowledge, and qualifications that employers are actively looking for - helping you progress into higher-paying roles or further study.

Our courses are £9,535* for the year (September 2025) and you don’t have to pay the full fee upfront. Most learners choose one of these flexible options:

  • Student Finance – If you’re eligible, you can apply for government funding to cover the cost, meaning you won’t pay anything upfront.
  • Installment plans – If you’re self-funding, you can spread the cost over manageable monthly payments.

Instead of thinking of it as a one-time cost, think of it as a long-term investment in your earning potential and career opportunities - with flexible ways to make it affordable.

*subject to a compounded annual inflationary increase announced by the government in October 2025, the amount of which is yet to be confirmed for the 2026/27 academic year.

If you’re looking for something longer term, we also offer a range of higher and degree apprenticeships that are usually two-four years long and split into 80% on-the-job training and 20% off-the-job (studying at uni) training.
