The Trading Room

De Montfort University (DMU) continues to invest in facilities to enhance student experience and employability. The Trading Room gives students on some of our Economics and Accounting courses access to market data, analytics and information.

The Trading Room provides simulation of what it is like to work in the financial industry in roles such as trading, portfolio management, investment banking, corporate finance and financial or economic analysis. The dedicated Trading Room is located on the second floor of the purpose-built Hugh Aston building.

Access to the Trading Room when studying at DMU opens a wide range of benefits. Some of the benefits include, but are not restricted to:

  • Company, industry, market and economic data

  • Employability skills, including access to both Bloomberg and Refinitiv/Eikon self-study certifications and their online training materials, on campus and online

  • Networking capabilities

  • Analysis tools

  • Analyst articles

Trading Room software

The Trading Room provides access to financial information software that is widely used in the industry to make decisions in areas of macro-economic policy-making, portfolio management, central banking and risk analysis. Students will be able to use terminals to get an idea of real-time stock and bond prices and news on businesses, industry trends and the wider global market.

Students benefit from Bloomberg and Refinitiv/Eikon self-study certifications and their online training materials. These are available via campus and online.
