American Football is a team sport where strategy meets strength, and teams aim to move the ball into the end zone for a touchdown.

DMUactive - Free, fun, recreational sport
  • Provides free and fun non-contact flag football through our DMUactive Mystery sessions.

  • Mystery sessions are a chance to try a sport that isn't normally a part of DMU active, they are revealed 1 week in advance on the DMU Leisure App.

  • All equipment is provided - book on the app and bring your student ID card!

DMUlearn2 - Learn a new sport
  • Free entry-level sessions coached by experts to learn the basics and rules of the game alongside fellow beginners.

  • Delivered across short term-time blocks, American Football is a mix of contact & non-contact delivery.

DMUcampus - Internal competitions & tournaments
  • DMUcampus runs a summer flag football series during Blocks 6 & 7.

  • Open to social teams, societies, halls, or individual sign-ups.

DMUteam - Train, compete & represent the university
  • The American Football team trains twice a week at Beaumont Park with additional classroom tactical/ video analysis sessions to grow players understanding of the game.

  • Competes in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league with Sunday fixtures across the Midlands & a partnership with a local club too.

  • Transport to and from training/matches is provided to remove barriers to participation.

  • Includes access to specialist Strength & Conditioning (S&C) support at no extra cost.
