DMU student Steven Thornton is celebrating after having work he produced during his first year published in a respected journal.
Steven is now in his third year on the Architectural Technology BSc Programme featured by CIAT – the accreditation body of the programme. The article was published in their AT journal, issue 156, Winter 2025.
The article explores a case study, retrofitting an existing building in Leicester designed by Steven Thornton as part of the Building Project 1 module led by Dr Sahar Abdalrahman.
The Leicester Resilience hub stands as an example of how we can incorporate sustainable design and retrofit strategies into existing infrastructure, creating stronger, more resilient communities that can withstand future social and environmental pressures.
The case study takes inspiration from the United Nations' Resilience Hub Initiative and the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN).
