Lost and found property

Found a lost item?

If you find a lost item, hand it in to the DMU Security Team at the Estates Services Building, located opposite the Campus Centre and Gateway House. If you can, let us know the date, time and location the item was found.

Our team will then log the item and attempt to find its owner. Any sensitive items that could be misused (such as bank cards) will be stored securely until they can be returned to their owners.

Please do not hand lost property to reception desks, faculty offices or any other point of contact; wherever possible, lost property should always be handed in to DMU Security to ensure the secure storage and return of the item.

Lost property

Each month, the DMU Security Team receives large amounts of lost property, which are booked in and stored to await collection. However, many of these items are never claimed by their owners, and are eventually destroyed.

To assist and speed up the process of reuniting staff and students with their property, the online form below enables you to submit details of your missing property. The form is simple and requires a few basic details of the item concerned, as well as the contact details of the item's owner.

Once submitted, the information will be checked against the current record of items stored. Should we find that we are in possession of property matching the given description, you will be contacted immediately by telephone or email; please make sure these are up to date when submitting your form to us.

If we are unable to locate the item concerned, the department will retain the information supplied for a period of two months.

The personal data supplied as part of the completion and submission of this form will be held safely by the university and only disclosed in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
