Founded in 1870, the Leicester School of Art is the first element of what, almost 120 years later, became De Montfort University. Today our visual arts courses continue our ethos of encouraging students to express and develop their creativity within a supportive and experimental environment.
We encourage an open-ended spirit of enquiry and collaboration across disciplines which reveal new ways of thinking and making, enabling you to produce thought-provoking and dynamic work. Employability and professional practice are embedded into the curriculum and can enjoy opportunities to showcase your work to gain industry exposure.
The award-winning Vijay Patel Building has been designed to provide the space and facilities where ideas can develop and flourish. The workshops are transparent and visible to all, encouraging you to experiment with different practices and discover new passions.
