"The facilities are fantastic because they inspire me to try new ideas and really experiment. Leicester is such a creative city – there’s always exhibitions and events to get involved in!"

–Harry, Photography student

Founded in 1870, the Leicester School of Art is the first element of what, almost 120 years later, became De Montfort University. Today our visual arts courses continue our ethos of encouraging students to express their creativity within a supportive and experimental environment.

Based in our award-winning Vijay Patel Building, you will be empowered by the contemporary and striking space, with access to diverse facilities where you can freely explore your ideas. From ceramics, glass making, fine art printmaking, metalworking and sculpture facilities to state-of-the-art digital video editing suites, video and stills studios, our facilities will help you discover new ways of thinking and making, inspiring you to create thought-provoking and dynamic work.

Employability and professional practice are embedded in the curriculum to prepare you for a range of rewarding careers and you can enjoy opportunities to showcase your work at prestigious venues in the creative city of Leicester and beyond.

One building...a world of possibilities
