At DMU London, our block teaching approach means you focus on one module at a time with just two days on campus —helping you learn more effectively, stay organised, and balance your studies with life and work in the capital.

What is block teaching?

Block teaching is a different way of learning. Instead of studying multiple modules at once, you focus on one subject at a time—which can feel more intensive—but it also makes learning clearer and more manageable.

Each module is taught over a focused period of around six to seven weeks. Teaching is delivered at the campus two days each week, alongside independent study time. At the end of that block, you complete your assessment before moving on to the next subject.

The structured format and regular support help you stay on track, with clear milestones throughout each block. This means no competing deadlines and no juggling multiple topics at once—just clear, structured learning from start to finish.

Why block teaching works

This focused approach is designed to help you succeed academically while maintaining balance in your daily life.

  • Focus on one subject at a time
Build deeper understanding without distractions from other modules
  • No overlapping deadlines
Complete one assessment before moving on to the next
  • Faster, more regular feedback
Receive feedback at the end of each block to improve quickly
  • Structured and predictable timetable
Plan your study, work, and personal life with confidence

How your studies are structured

Each module is delivered in a clearly structured block:

  • Weeks 1–6: Teaching, learning, and guided study
  • Final week: Assessment and submission

You then move on to your next module and repeat the cycle.

This structured rhythm helps you stay focused, organised, and in control of your progress throughout your course.
