The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Teaching Fellow in Cyber Security to join DMU London at a pivotal stage in its growth. This is a key academic role for an experienced and motivated individual who can contribute to the delivery of high-quality postgraduate teaching and support the continued development of our digital and computing portfolio.

You will play an important part in delivering innovative, industry-informed teaching in Cyber Security and related areas, including the applied use of AI in security contexts. Working as part of a collaborative academic team, you will help create engaging, practice-based learning experiences that are intellectually rigorous, professionally relevant and aligned to the needs of postgraduate learners.

As a Senior Teaching Fellow, you will contribute not only to teaching delivery, but also to curriculum enhancement, academic leadership and the wider student experience. The role offers the opportunity to shape modules, support programme development, and work closely with colleagues to ensure a high-quality and inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering postgraduate teaching in Cyber Security and related subject areas, including applied use of AI in security contexts
  • Acting as Module Leader and contributing across the wider digital and computing portfolio
  • Designing and delivering innovative, industry-informed teaching and assessment
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the MSc Cyber Security & AI programme
  • Providing academic leadership, line management and mentoring to colleagues
  • Engaging with industry partners and external guest speakers to enhance learning and strengthen professional relevance
  • Supporting recruitment, marketing, and student engagement activities in support of DMU London’s continued growth

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a motivated and collaborative academic or industry professional with strong expertise in Cyber Security and a genuine commitment to high-quality postgraduate teaching.

The successful candidate will bring the ability to combine subject knowledge with strong teaching practice, creating learning experiences that are engaging, applied and responsive to the needs of a diverse postgraduate student body. You will be comfortable working across teaching, curriculum development and wider academic responsibilities, and will be able to contribute positively to a collegial and ambitious academic team.

Essential

  • A relevant degree and postgraduate qualification (or PhD)
  • Experience of teaching in higher education at postgraduate level, or significant industry experience in Cyber Security
  • Evidence of high-quality, and innovative teaching and learning practice
  • Experience of contributing to curriculum, module and assessment development
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching and student support
  • Ability to work collaboratively and support colleagues
  • Understanding of ethical and responsible approaches in technical education

Desirable

  • Experience of of teaching in higher education at postgraduate level, or significant industry experience in AI, Data Analytics or related field
  • Experience of academic leadership, formal line management, mentoring or workload coordination
  • Understanding of postgraduate admissions, applicant decision-making and the needs of international students
  • Experience of supporting programme promotion, including webinars, marketing content or engagement with prospective students and agents
  • Experience of recognising and responding to business development opportunities
