Academic support

DMU has dedicated resources to provide extra academic support to students.

Areas we provide help with include:

  • Essay writing (style, structure and referencing)
  • General written English (grammar, punctuation)
  • Research (skills and sources)
  • Time management
  • Verbal presentations
  • Revision and exams

Just Ask

The ‘Just Ask’ library service provides help and information via email and telephone.

Each library has enquiry points whose expert staff also run drop-in sessions, workshops and one-to-one sessions to help you learn how to use library and learning services.

Dedicated support for you

In addition to course support, the library also provides advice, guidance and resources on many study skills including approaches to academic writing, strategies for managing research and IT skills to support your study.

Centre for Learning and Study Support (CLaSS)

Based in the Kimberlin Library, CLaSS provides help and support for students with their studies.

Support is delivered in a number of ways, including study support tutorials, online publications and writing development advice, so it’s easy to find the approach that suits you best.
