Thanks for booking onto our Open Day with a difference – we are really excited about meeting you!

Our Open Day has been designed to give you a real-life experience of your course. You can enjoy course talks, take a tour of our campus and facilities, explore Leicester city centre and take a look at our accommodation. The day starts at 9am and finishes at 3pm. Below is some useful information you need to know before joining us on campus and to help you make the most of your day. You can locate all buildings and outdoor spaces using our campus map.

Where to check-in

On the morning of the Open Day please check your inbox, you will receive an email with a link to a form. Have this open on your phone, so you can check yourself in upon arrival – this will reduce queues. You can check-in before or after the Welcome to DMU talk that starts at 9.25am. All you need to do is head to your check-in location (listed below) and we will provide you with a check-in code to enter onto the form.

There will be lots of opportunities to chat with our students, lecturers, and specialists about your subject choices, from student life to the career opportunities offered by our award-winning careers and employability service, DMU Careers Team.     4. Audio and visual hub and IT Support

      Located at the Queens Building, Concourse. Find out more about our service that loans equipment such as cameras, lighting, microphones, and recorders, to our students so they don’t have to make expensive purchases. Our team also offer practical advice and guidance and support general IT queries.
    5. Campus tours

      Tours leave throughout the day from the Campus Tour stand, outside the Food Village. Head over to our current students in blue who will be happy to help.

    6. Careers, Placements and Enterprise

      Located on Hawthorn Square in the Hugh Aston Building. The Careers Hub is our dedicated space for students and graduates to get the support they need for successful professional lives. The Careers Team also supports students looking to start or grow their own business.     7. Confucius Institute

      Located at the Vijay Patel Building, Design Wing, the Confucius Institute is a vibrant centre celebrating the Chinese language and culture. Visit the institute to find out about Mandarin Chinese courses offered free to DMU students.

      Visit our Great Hall, which has been a site of trials since the middle ages. Today it accommodates a dedicated Crown Court, which is used by law students in practical sessions.

      Located at the Vijay Patel Building, Leicester Gallery is one of the leading public spaces for contemporary art in the city and offers a unique opportunity for students to engage and work with visiting artist and designers, allowing in-depth understanding of the workings and business of the art industry.

      Located at the Kimberlin Library. Drop-in or take a personal tour.
    18. Muslim Prayer Room

      Located at the Portland Building. Access via the back entrance on Newarke Close. The prayer room has dedicated spaces for prayers and ablution. Prayers at 12:30pm.
    19. Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre

      Located in the Food Village, find out about our sports facilities and visit the leisure centre for a guided tour.
    20. Stephen Lawrence Research Centre

      Located on Hawthorn Square in the Hugh Aston Building. Find out how the centre aims to drive forward conversations that will shape and influence how we think about race and social justice in contemporary society.
