At DMU we are aware that travel to Open Days can be expensive and might sometimes mean you don’t get to visit all of the universities you would like to. We also know the importance of attending Open Days - after all, this is your chance to find out more about your chosen course, see for yourself where you could be living and studying and meet lecturers and current students who can share their own personal experiences.
DMU are offering 50% off same day train tickets for travel to our March Open Day*. We will even provide free shuttle buses from Leicester train station to DMU campus to ensure you arrive ready to explore and find out more. It is easy to book your discounted tickets, you just need to call 020 7630 3380 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and have your details ready.

Train travel discount terms and conditions
DMU are offering 50% off train tickets, valid on all rail fares within the UK, to help you get to our March 2020 Open Day. Offer can only be used by prospective students of De Montfort University (DMU) looking to study between 2019-2021.
How do I book my ticket?
When you have booked your place for our March Open Day, (you can book here if you haven’t already done so), call 020 7630 3380 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your discounted train ticket. Have ready the train times you wish to book for, discount is only valid for same-day travel.
Ticket office hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30am - 5pm.
I have a Young Persons Railcard, can I still get the discount?
Yes, the offer gives 50% off a full priced train ticket or 50% off in conjunction with a Young Person’s discounted ticket.
What routes are valid for this offer?
The ticket is valid on all routes within the UK, with your destination station being Leicester.
You can plan your journey using the Trainline website. Enter the station you want to leave from and the station you want to go to (tickets are only valid for trains to Leicester Station). The ticket you receive from us is for a same-day ticket, valid for outbound and return journeys.
How long is the ticket valid for?
The train ticket is a same-day ticket and will be valid all day, for the day of the Open Day, so you can plan which trains you want to catch and when for both outbound and return journey.
How late can I book onto the Open Day to receive a discounted train ticket?
The train ticket offer is valid for our March 2020 Open Day. We need to email your train ticket to you ahead of the event, you need to book onto the Open Day and book your train ticket by 5pm on the Friday before the event to receive the discount.
When will I receive my train ticket?
Providing you book onto the March Open Day before the day of the Open Day itself, you’ll receive your ticket via your email on the same day you purchased your ticket.
Can guests get the discount too?
Trainline bookings can only offer the discount for one ticket per booking for attending our Open Day. Your guests are not eligible for the discount.
Which station do I need to arrive at for the Open Day?
Discounted tickets are only valid for arrival into Leicester station which is only a 15 minute walk away from campus. We’re providing a free shuttle bus service from the train station to DMU Campus.
How will I receive my ticket?
Tickets will be emailed to bookers.
Can I get a refund for my ticket?
Discounted tickets are non-refundable.
What happens with the ticket I purchased if for any reason I miss the train or I am not able to travel again on the same day?
If you miss the train or are unable to travel, unfortunately we are not able to subsidise further travel or provide a refund.
Terms and Conditions
*This promotion is only valid for attendance of our March Open Day and any tickets purchased in advance of this offer going live on 19 February cannot be reimbursed.
This promotion is not valid for first class tickets.
No cash alternatives will be offered and the discounted ticket cannot be transferred to a nominated recipient.
All tickets awarded are at the discretion of the university.
De Montfort University (DMU) reserves the right to revise, review or withdraw the offer at any time without prior notice.
Tickets are issued for 14 March Open Day attendance only.
If an e-ticket is not available, you will be given a ticket collection reference to collect your tickets from one of 1700 ticket machines at UK stations. To do this you need to put in any credit/debit card into a machine and enter your collection reference. You will not be charged. On some rare occasions for security reasons the trainline requires you to collect tickets using the same credit/debit card as used for payment. If this is the option for your booking unfortunately we will not be able to offer you the 50% discount promotion.
