Filbert Village

Just a 10-minute walk from campus, close to a range of convenience stores and leisure facilities, Filbert Village is privately managed by Unite Students. 

Its flats feature two, four, five or six bedrooms, all with en suite facilities. Premium rooms are also available, which include a larger room and a double bed.

Each flat has a shared kitchen, with a breakfast bar and stools, as well as a communal area with a sofa and curtains. They are equipped with a cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, vacuum cleaner, dustpan and brush, mop and bucket, iron and an ironing board and bin.

Up to 70Mb broadband connection is included in rent costs, while TV connection points are available in bedrooms and kitchens (a co-axial cable is required).

The hall features CCTV, a secure door entry system and 24-hour roaming security, bicycle storage, free document printing and coinless laundry facilities (£3.50 per wash, £1.70 per dry).

Filbert Village also features a common area; this includes a study room, table tennis, table football, and TV.

Limited car parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A 43-week parking space costs £645.

Contract length

A contract at Filbert Village last for 43 weeks and one day, running from Friday 20 September 2019 to Friday 17 July 2020.

International students can start a week earlier (additional costs apply).

Rent and costs

Classic en suite: £116 per week, inclusive of bills. Total: £5,004.59

Premium en suite: £131 per week, inclusive of bills. Total: £5,651.73

N.B. A guarantor is required. They can be either UK or international, but must be over the age of 21 and in full-time employment. Without a guarantor, you will have to pay the full year’s rent when making the booking. 

Rent instalments 2018/19

Classic en suite (43 week and one day contract), four instalments:

  • 6 September 2019: £500.46            
  • 11 October 2019: £1,501.38  
  • 15 January 2020: £2,001.84 
  • 15 April 2020: £1,000.92

Premium en suite (43 week and one day contract), four instalments:

  • 15 January 2020: £2,260.70 
  • 15 April 2020: £1,130.35

Students with an international home address will need to pay in two equal instalments on 6 September 2019 and 15 January 2020

Premium en suite: two instalments of £2,891.36 (based on a 44 week and one day contract)

Additional rent considerations

The first instalment is due before you arrive. You will not be able to use your student loan to pay this, as you won’t receive this until after you have enrolled on your course.

Payments can be made by debit card or credit card (although there is a two per cent surcharge on credit card transactions) or by direct debit. You can make a bank transfer if you have no other ways of paying.
