Year one (Level 4)

Constructing the Moving Image

Through a series of practical exercises and creative projects, this module introduces you to the video production process, from research, storyboarding and organisation, through recording and culminating in editing and post-production.

Photography and Camera Vision

This module offers an introduction to advanced level working in still photography. It offers an exploration of technical and aesthetic concerns, and is taught through projects, workshops and lectures.

Concepts of Digital Media

A comprehensive practical, technical and theoretical introduction to digital lens-based practice is included within this module which includes working with creative tools such as Photoshop and Lightroom, making DSLR movies and creating websites.

Lens-Based Studies

This module will give you an introduction to contemporary lens-based theory and history. It provides an introduction to a broad range of themes and ideas within the fields of photography, film and video and assists you to develop informed and confident practical work.

Year two (Level 5)

Still and Moving Image: Research and Practice

This module helps you to build your creative voice and advance your technical skills, through a combination of assignment briefs, lectures and advanced skills workshops. It focusses on research, development and continual critical reflection.

Professional Studies

This is an exciting module which allows you to develop and then apply professional skills. Featuring live assignments for real-world clients, it will ensure that you learn the necessary attributes as you begin to develop your career within industry and/or the wider field of creative practice.

Lens-Based Choice

The Lens Based Choice module allows you to become more autonomous in your practice as you research and develop a body of informed work, in your preferred area of production.

Year three (Level 6)

Experimental and Analytical Production with a Major Project

This module features the production of a large body of work which typically, will form the basis of your degree show exhibition. Working in your own specialist area of creative production, you will research and then produce a substantial body of work. You will be supported by specialist staff and teaching will mainly be tutorial based.

Creative Professional Practice

This module will help you to prepare for your career track as you develop a body of lens-based work in response to a brief, participate in workshops to enhance your employability, and develop your digital media profile to a high professional standard.

Critical Research

This module helps you consolidate earlier learning, as you produce an extended essay which informs and enriches your practice. It will help you to further develop your critical and analytical reflection and thinking abilities, as well as your writing and researching skills.
