Part-time courses at DMU allow you to study, during the daytime, evenings or both at your own pace, and build up credits as you go. Duration varies according to the individual programme. However, in general, part-time qualifications last:
- Honours Degree: five to six years
- Diploma: three to four years
- Certificate: two years
Most courses start in September or October but some have later second entry dates.
The DMU Widening Access programme supports applicants who have non-traditional qualifications, or formal qualifications such as A-Levels or have taken an Access Course or gained experience and skills in their careers and wish to study further.
Professional Short Courses
DMU short courses | are professionally delivered by academics and are designed to keep individuals abreast of specialist, relevant and professional skills that benefit both yourself and your employer. Courses run throughout the year and vary in length and there are options available that allow study in bite-sized sections but still gain credits at the same time.

Programmes are delivered in year-long modules and students typically study four to six modules per year, depending on whether the module has a single or double credit value. Students can study a programme module-by-module over a longer period and the scheme is available for all undergraduate programmes. Details are included in individual programme entries.
