To qualify for the DMU Global High Flyers Award you must:

  • Not be undertaking an Access course prior to starting DMU
  • Achieve 128 UCAS points or more, from three A Levels or an A2 equivalent in one sitting; for example a BTEC Extended Diploma at DDM
  • Pass with a minimum of 30+ points overall if you are studying International Baccalaureate

Terms and conditions

  • To be eligible, students must be classed as Home or EU.
  • All DMU first-year students are eligible to apply for a DMU Global bursary of £400 for international trips, and £150 for European trips. The DMU Global High Flyers award then provides eligible students with up to an additional £600 for international trips (making up the £1,000 award) and up to an additional £500 for European trips (making up the £650 award).
  • Awards up to £1,000 are redeemable against one international DMU Global opportunity outside of Europe, which must be taken in the first year of study.
  • Awards up to £650 are redeemable against one European DMU Global opportunity, which must be taken in the first year of study.
  • All awards are discounted from the total cost of travel and accommodation of a DMU Global trip, which must be claimed against one DMU Global opportunity within the student’s first year of study.
  • While overseas DMU Global opportunities are not currently possible due to restrictions following COVID-19, the university continues to review government advice and, if travel is permitted, we hope to offer a small number of extra-curricular opportunities in the early summer of 2021. For further information you can visit the DMU Global FAQs page.
  • If the overall cost of travel and accommodation for the DMU Global trip is less than the combined amount of the High Flyers award, plus the DMU Global bursary, then the High Flyers award amount will be reduced accordingly.
  • Awards are not redeemable against any on-campus or UK-based DMU Global opportunities.
  • Awards are non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash alternative will be offered.
  • The 128 UCAS points must be achieved in one sitting; however, the sitting is not required to be from 2020. We will consider those who have completed level 3 qualifications in a previous year.
  • Students undertaking an Access course prior to starting DMU will not be eligible.
  • Applicants who choose DMU as their insurance choice, and then later become Firm with DMU, will not be eligible.
  • Awards cannot be deferred with an application or enrolment later than September 2020.
  • DMU Global High Flyers students are not guaranteed acceptance to the DMU Global programme, and must formally apply for their DMU Global experience - our dedicated team will contact you to arrange the next steps.
  • Students undertaking an Access course prior to starting DMU will not be eligible.
  • If an applicant is allocated an award but then withdraws their application, or does not take part in the opportunity for any reason, the award is forfeited and must be repaid.
  • Applicants must have no outstanding debt to the university.
  • Students in receipt of the scholarship will not be eligible for any other scholarship or award during the same period. This is with the exception of the Employability Award and The DMU Difference and course specific scholarships i.e. Pharmacy and Nursing.
  • No cash alternatives will be offered and the scholarship cannot be transferred a nominated recipient.
  • Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the university.
  • The university reserves the right to withdraw awards at any point before they are allocated.
  • DMU reserves the right to revise or amend these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
