About the course
The Professional Studies in Forensic Road Collision Investigation BSc (Hons) is a top-up to the two year Forensic Road Collision Investigation Foundation Degree (FdSc).
The programme is mainly based around a research module which will require you to complete a work based project and as such you will need to be employed in the field of collision investigation. This includes serving police officers, insurance investigators and those who offer consultancy expertise in this area.
The course builds on the Foundation Degree which together provides a thorough understanding of the physical principles underlying collisions and vehicle dynamics and how mathematics can be used to describe and model collision scenarios. The course also helps you to understand how modern technology is used in forensic collision investigation. A strong emphasis is placed on the practical use of technology to investigate real-world collisions.
The course provides an understanding and use of a wide range of hardware and software such as calculation and simulation programs that allow a collision to be reconstructed
We also offer a University Certificate of Professional Development (UCPD) Forensic Road Collision Investigation. This programme is the starting point for those who wish to become forensic road collision investigators and who have no prior experience of investigating road collisions This includes serving police officers, insurance investigators and those who have been employed to provide consultancy services in this area. The UCPD is currently available by distance learning over one year. You can find out more about this course on the AiTS website.
