Perioperative and Surgical Practice
The module holistically explores patient care throughout the perioperative journey allowing care and service providers a more encompassing understanding range of the patients’ surgical pathway focusing on quality, safety and encouraging teamwork. Perioperative-Surgical staff working in a wide range of surgical environments such as pre-assessment, day care, ward and theatres are encouraged to understand and appreciate each other’s role resulting in better patient care and safety.
Whilst the module has no practice element, through the use of discussion and debate relating to practice areas it will enable practitioners to have a greater understanding of roles and responsibilities within the multidisciplinary team. This should lead to a more cohesive approach to the delivery of care and there by better patient outcomes.
