Newborn and infant physical examination
The aim of the module is to prepare healthcare professionals such as midwives, neonatal nurses, nurses, community specialist practitioners and general practitioners to competently undertake an examination and assessment of the healthy newborn infant born between 37 and 42 completed gestational weeks in line with National Screening Committee best practice standards. This module will enable participants to analyse the skills required for the initial health assessment, whilst at the same time incorporating theoretical knowledge with practical experiences in the workplace.

- Effective registration with the NMC / HPC or other relevant professional body. ESSENTIAL
- Undertaken successful level 4/5 academic study. ESSENTIAL
- Currently be employed in practice and have the support of their manager in undertaking the module. ESSENTIAL
