Managing Pain

This module is concerned with the management, aetiology, types, treatment and clinical differentiation of pain. It provides a basis for the student to assess pain based on physiology and psychology knowledge and clinical manifestation. Assessment, treatment and treatment effectiveness is based on a knowledge of the different types of pain, their aetiology and pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.

Entry Criteria

  • Effective registration with the NMC / HPC or other relevant professional body. ESSENTIAL
  • Undertaken successful level 4/5 academic study. ESSENTIAL
  • Currently be employed in practice and have the support of their manager in undertaking the module. ESSENTIAL
