Antenatal and Newborn Screening

Antenatal and Newborn screening are integral parts of midwives role and a major part of public health.

This module will provide a contemporary view of these topics using a blended learning approach participants will have opportunity to engage with a variety of experts and learning materials, they will use open education resources to equip themselves with a in depth knowledge of issues involved.

There will be opportunity for self and peer assessment Assessment involves an in depth case study and a viva related to offering informed choice about a screening programme.

Entry Criteria

  • Effective registration with the NMC / HPC or other relevant professional body. ESSENTIAL
  • Undertaken successful level 4/5 academic study. ESSENTIAL
  • Currently be employed in practice and have the support of their manager in undertaking the module. ESSENTIAL
