Theory Knowledge and Reasoning in Professional Practice

This module is specifically designed to enable students to critically analyse, develop and integrate concepts, theories and conceptual frameworks that are relevant to their professional caring practice.

It emphasizes critical reasoning in the study of concepts and theoretical frameworks. Students are expected to explore, discuss and develop how concepts and theoretical frameworks may be used to embed professional practice in changing healthcare settings.

Students must demonstrate the ability to effectively construct and express cogent arguments on their chosen subjects both in verbal discussions and in written/print format.

MPHE 5201 Theory, Knowledge and Reasoning is based at Masters Level study. It is desirable that you have experience of study at academic level 6 and working towards degree level study. Other desirable attributes include ability to carry out a comprehensive literature review, to critique salient issues and to participate in planned debates / group discussions. You must also make necessary arrangements to attend all study days.
