Contraception and Sexual Health, Theory and Clinical Practice
This master’s level module provides students with an opportunity to acquire the expertise and knowledge to become professionally confident and competent in giving advice and effective care to people of all ages, regarding contraceptive and sexual health issues.
As part of this module, students are expected to undertake a clinical placement in a specialist sexual health service (minimum of 36 clinical hours), which will enable them to develop the necessary skills to become competent to deliver clinical sexual health care within the context of their practice area.
Students are strongly advised to discuss this component of the module with their line manager, to ensure that sufficient time will be given to meet this requirement. Practice placements will be negotiated on your behalf by the module leader but places are limited.
It is therefore essential that early application to the university is made, and all applicants contact the module leader PRIOR to applying, so clinical placements can be arranged in advance. Please note that some sexual health services may charge individual students for the clinical placements sessions. This cost is payable directly to that service.
