This module provides an introduction to housing policy and making focusing upon explanations and understandings of the development of housing policy and its link with economic and social change.

The module starts with an account of the development of housing policy in the Hong Kong and of key historical and contemporary debates related to this. Later parts of the module introduce administrative and management issues relate to housing development.

Particular reference is to made debates about the changing role of housing tenures, residualisation, privatisation and the role of housing in the contemporary society.

In addition to lecture-based presentations, the module includes a number of seminar/tutorial sessions where participants will need to read key texts and make presentations related to these.
