Module description

This module examines the law regulating the use of expert medical and scientific evidence in criminal and civil cases under English law, together with a range of problems and issues that can arise when such evidence is adduced, or when the admissibility of such evidence or the competence of a witness is challenged.

In particular, the module considers law reform measures and proposals, and the potential link between the admission of erroneous or misleading expert evidence and miscarriages of justice.

  • Essay 1: 50%
