What is it?

The MyUniPal scheme aims to welcome and support new students at the start of, and throughout the academic year.

MyUniPal volunteer mentors are existing DMU university students, who are keen to help new students at university. They will support and organise a range of activities around key transition dates, to welcome and guide new students on campus.

Who is it for?

The short answer... anyone who is starting a course at DMU. MyUniPal events are open to all students.
If you want MyUniPal to help you settle into university life and build your own student experience then simply join in with any of our activities.

If you are an existing student, and would like to become a MyUniPal mentor please visit the website for more information on how you apply.

How it works?

Students starting at the university will be able to meet our MyUniPal volunteer mentors during International Welcome, Freshers Week and Refreshers Week. Our UniPals will be running and supporting different activities to welcome new students to DMU, and will be available to chat to and answer any questions!

The first weeks are important, but we recognise there will be times during the year where new students will require more support. Therefore, MyUniPal will have a variety of activities throughout the year for students to get involved in.
Visit our Activities Calendar for more information.

What students say?

“MyUniPal gave me the opportunity to engage with new students on the first week of their journey at DMU.
The experience and advice that I could provide was greatly received by students and hopefully gave them the
confidence to get stuck in to university life here at DMU. I look forward to volunteering again as a Mentor in the future.”
