The Virtual Orchestra is a digital symphony orchestra based here in Leicester and powered by DMU Music partner, the Philharmonia Orchestra.
There are different volunteering and work experience opportunities available this autumn in Leicester within this inspiring arts project.
The Orchestra are looking for a large number of volunteers and students looking for work experience opportunities across the period 22 October – 17 November 2018 to help facilitate and run the project alongside their experienced team of event and technical managers.
Whether you’re looking to build your CV, give something back to the community, or involve yourself in a nation-wide audience engagement project, there are opportunities for all.
There are three different roles on offer throughout the project:
Front of House volunteers will help welcome public attendees to The Virtual Orchestra installation, keep track of numbers, and answer questions from the public. You will be the welcoming face of The Virtual Orchestra.
Technical volunteers will help facilitate the virtual reality experience within the installation and ensure equipment is being used safely and appropriately by our attendees.
Evaluation volunteers will help the Philharmonia collect important evaluation data from schools, participants, and audiences at the installation.
All volunteers will be invited to a scheduled training session in advance of the installation opening and will also receive a volunteer pack with full details about the roles, project, and organisation. All volunteers will be trained in each aspect of the project (front of house, technical, and evaluation) and there may be opportunities to work within each section depending on your availability across the project.
