Hourly Paid and Honorary Staff
Bank Staff are a group of staff which DMU keep as a “pool” of people who may be used on an occasional basis throughout an academic year on a fixed term contract. They have employment rights similar to support staff including continuous service. Typical examples are Invigilators and Ancillary Shelvers.
Staff may be recruited via the normal recruitment and advertising process, although it is more likely that the Faculty/Department will already have identified suitable staff.
Payment is made monthly in arrears, via payroll, on submission of weekly time sheets. Time sheets should be signed by the Faculty/Department and submitted to the Payroll Department by the 8th of each month.
A Bank Requisition Form word(332 kb) should be completed and signed by the Line Manager, Dean/Director/Head of Cost Centre and the Management Accountant. It should then be forwarded to Human Resources to be signed by an HR Partner/Officer and submitted to the next Staff Review Group for approval prior to the commencement of the individual/s. The form may be specific to one individual, or one form may be raised for an academic year to cover a group of people on an attached list.
For new Bank staff, the requisition should be accompanied by an Application Form for Agency/Bank Staff, word(357 kb) to be completed by each person and signed by the Dean/Director/Head of Cost Centre.
Honorary appointments are offered on an unpaid basis and the individual is not an employee of De Montfort University. An Honorary Appointment form word(294 kb) should be completed and returned to the HR Services Team, who will issue a formal letter of invitation.
