Muslim Prayer Room
DMU’s Prayer Rooms and ablution facilities are currently closed.
When our prayer spaces are open, DMU students and staff benefit from a dedicated Prayer Room which has a capacity of around 400, recently renovated ablution facilities and support from our Muslim Chaplain.
Imam Mohammed Laher is the Muslim Chaplain at De Montfort University. He works with colleagues in Student and Academic Services to support and enhance the student experience.
The Muslim chaplaincy provides advice and guidance on matters relating to faith and religion, as well as spiritual, pastoral, moral and social care in the University, including for staff on the religious needs of students and staff.
He is a qualified and trained Imam who leads congregational prayers and also offers the opportunity to other qualified and trained users to lead prayers.
The Imam is available via firstname.lastname@example.org to offer advice and one-to-one guidance and support via phone or email to DMU students and staff.
He is part of the Muslim Prayer Room Advisory Group (MPRAG) and also works with the Student Union (DSU) affiliated Societies.
