#DMUPride: Unorthodox

In modern Britain, what does it mean to be queer and religious? Unorthodox tells the stories of LGBT+ people of faith. Bringing together artists, activists, religious leaders, community workers and writers, this talk explores how LGBT+ Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Sikhs navigate their faith, why they stay and what it means to believe. Séan Richardson (editor of the book of the same title) led a talk on this subject at DMU on 2020 as part of #DMUPride. Séan is an academic, curator and writer based in Nottingham whose research tackles the lasting resonances of queer history in contemporary society through literature and heritage. I want to find a church

When they come to De Montfort University, many students are too far away from their old church to be able to continue attending. Other students have no church but would like to attend one. We’re happy to help you find a church that’s a good fit for you. You can get in touch with the chaplain via email. Please contact our Student Cohesion Officer at

I want to find a society

We have several faith and belief societies run by fellow DMU students. They will be hosting their meetings and activities online this year and would love for you to join their community. Visit the Student Union website to browse the societies and get in touch with them. If you can't find what you are looking for, contact DSU Activities Team at and they will be happy to help you start your own society.
