International Welcome Week

International Welcome Week takes place between Monday 21 and Friday 25 September 2020.

The week is designed to help you get to know the city, meet other students and settle in before the start of your studies.

International Welcome Week is free and includes:

  • social events
  • tours of the city and DMU campus
  • a day trip to Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare's birthplace)
  • information sessions and practical advice on looking for jobs, healthcare, campus safety, opening a bank account and on learning and studying in a UK university.

Online booking will be available here by the end of May 2020.

Frequently asked questions

When will I know the full programme for International Welcome Week?

The full programme will be available by the beginning of September. After you have booked a place, we will email you before the week itself with the full timetable of events. 

What happens about my accommodation?

Accommodation contracts for overseas students in DMU-sourced halls will begin on Friday 18 September, to allow you to attend International Welcome Week. If you are an EU student, your contract is likely to begin the following week (on Friday 25th September) - however you be able to arange with your hall to move in a week earlier - contact your hall directly about this. Please note that New Wharf hall is not able to offer earlier an contract start date.  

Can I choose which sessions to attend during the Week?

International Welcome Week is relaxed and you can choose which sessions to attend. In addition to trips and social events, the week will also include essential information sessions on different aspects of living, studying and working in the UK. We recommend coming along to as many of these sessions as you can.

Will you meet me at the airport?

We provide a pick-up service from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on Saturday 19th September (for scheduled arrival times up to 16.00). If you can, we suggest arranging your flight to take advantage of this free service. If you are arriving on another date or at a different airport you will need to make your own travel arrangements
