What is Dare to Be mentoring?

Dare to Be is a mentoring scheme open to all DMU students.

The scheme matches DMU students with a trained mentor in order to help students develop:

Confidence
Self-belief
Motivation

At the heart of the scheme is a focus on attainment: supporting students to do well in their studies and reach their full potential.

How does it work?

Students attend a welcome event to find out more about the scheme and to prepare them for their first mentoring meeting. We then go on to match student mentees to a trained mentor for one-to-one mentoring.

Matches are made based on the skills students want to develop and the expertise and interests of our mentors.

Who are the mentors?

Dare to Be mentors include DMU staff, alumni and honorands. The mentors come from a range of backgrounds and work in diverse roles across DMU and beyond, but one thing they have in common is the desire to support students.
