A letter from DMU's new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Katie Normington, to all students

Hello! I am your new Vice-Chancellor. Although I have already sent out some communications, I wanted to introduce myself properly. It's hard to know how to do that at a time like this. We can do so little. These days I hardly handwrite a letter - only on special occasions, and this is special for me and I hope for DMU as we go forward in these extraordinary times.

First of all, I wanted to say thank you for all you have done over the last term to adapt to new ways of studying and learning. We now face some hard months and I am meeting daily with the executive team to see what else we can put in place to support you and ensure you are successful in your studies over the rest of the academic year.

I am excited to be joining DMU - it is such a friendly, diverse place. I love the sense of energy, creativity and willingness to give things a go.

As the leader of the university, I want students to have a strong voice in shaping what we do. I have set up some listening sessions in Teams via faculties and the DSU and hope to meet you soon there!

With best wishes,

Katie
