Celebrate the written word this October at the Everybody's Reading Festival

The countdown is on to the biggest and longest-ever Everybody’s Reading Festival, a month-long celebration of the written word, which is being organised by DMU for the first time this year.

Staff and students are being asked to help out by volunteering at the 141 events, which are taking place at 64 venues across the city of Leicester during the whole of October.

Everyone is also being urged to take part in this prestigious festival by attending events – and a number of these are being hosted right here on campus. Brochures can be found across the university as well as at the reception on the first floor of the Portland Building.

DMU Local's event co-ordinator Jess Bogic said: “Our aim this year was to take the festival out to the communities of Leicester and make it as diverse as possible – and we like to think that the programme has achieved that aim. The hope is to get everybody reading from children, to parents, to grandparents.

“I would like to think that the range of events means there is something for everyone in the festival programme.”

A full listing of events also appears on the festival website.

How do I sign up to volunteer?
