Volunteer in DMU Music's exciting Hear and Now project working with people affected by dementia


If you have a passion for music and enjoy working with new people, DMU Music may have the project for you.

Hear and Now will bring together DMU students, local primary schools, members of the Philharmonia Orchestra and people affected by dementia.

The project is a unique venture with Leicester Musical Memory Box, a singing group for people affected by dementia and other memory problems.

By working together, an original composition will be created over the course of four days, beginning on Monday 4 November, and will finish with a final performance at the Robert Hall Memorial Baptist Church on Friday 8 November at 2.30pm.

With over 60 participants, this multi-layered project is unique for its quality, creativity, diversity, scale and age-span. DMU Music are looking for DMU students to take part and you will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet new people
  • Learn about experience music as a social practice and therapeutic tool
  • Work alongside top musicians from the Philharmonia Orchestra
  • Spend the week getting creative and indulging in your music passion!
