DMU International Jazz Series presents Dennis Rollins Sextet 'Funky-Funk!'


Multi award-winning jazz trombonist Dennis Rollins MBE­ is performing at The Venue as part of Black History Season and the DMU International Jazz Series, with his Sextet Funky-Funk!

Dennis Rollins has five critically acclaimed albums and is working on his sixth album release with his groove ensemble ‘Funky-Funk!’ a six piece outfit delivering hard-hitting jazz melodies.

Dennis is a passionate performer and educator, and has delivered a wide range of music workshops, working with universities, colleges and schools in the UK and internationally.

He has won numerous awards including the esteemed BBC Jazz Award for Best Band in 2006, and Trombonist of the Year in 2007 at both the British Jazz Awards and the Ronnie Scott Jazz Awards. He was awarded an MBE in 2018 for services to music.

The performance is in conjunction with DMU Music and Leicester Jazzhouse and will begin at 8pm on Friday 11 October.
