As our programme of campus transformation projects continues, a large number of development works are currently taking place or due to take place across DMU.
Hugh Aston Courtyard
Work has begun on a four-storey extension (shown above) to the Hugh Aston Building which is due to be completed by summer 2020. The extension will provide more than 22,000 square metres of additional space for the Faculty of Business and Law.
Other works include:
- Renovation work to the front entrance of Gateway House is due to be completed at the end of October. The existing carpark is set to be remodelled and landscaped and new disabled car parking spaces will be available at the rear of Gateway House
- A new state-of-the-art radiography suite and a new research laboratory in the Hawthorn Building
- Refurbishing additional teaching spaces in Bede House
- Working with Leicester City Council to alter the cobbled Castle View to be more disability friendly with external LED lighting
- Replacing some of the lifts in Gateway House and Hawthorn
- Converting several classrooms into computer labs in Gateway House
- Constructing a flight simulator/wind tunnel in Mill Studios
- Refurbishing the Prayer Rooms in Portland Building
- Creating electric vehicle charging points at the following car parks: Bede House, Main Car Park and the Visitor Car Park
- Lecture theatres have been refurbished across a number of our buildings, with new LED lighting.
