After the 'digital detox', our new #HealthyDMU Hub can help boost your wellbeing
Over the last few days DMU took a break from posting on its social media channels in a 'digital detox' to raise awareness of the impact that unrestricted social media use can have on mental health.
Students and staff were encouraged to join in and reassess the amount of time they spend using social media. A special schedule of #HealthyDMU events was organised to help people channel their energy into focusing on their wellbeing. Activities included meditation, yoga, tai chi, sports classes, origami and reading events. Take a look at our video of highlights at the link below.
The new #HealthyDMU Hub
If you’ve been inspired to focus more on your wellbeing after our recent #HealthyDMU activities, then we have good news for you.
We’re excited to announce the launch of the #HealthyDMU Hub, which brings together information on a range of health and wellbeing-boosting activities, many of which are great fun, and might be things you’ve never considered.
#HealthyDMU is our ambitious university-wide approach to student wellbeing. We want to make healthy choices as easy as possible. The hub provides resources to help students have a healthy, happy and productive time at university and develop lifestyle habits that can enrich their wellbeing for years to come.
You can find out about things as diverse as #HealthyDMU masterclasses, sports activities, DSU societies, volunteering, drinking sensibly and stopping smoking.
The hub includes:
- A What’s On calendar for upcoming wellbeing events
- Details of activities where you can keep fit on and around campus
- Advice on taking care of yourself
- How learning can boost your wellbeing
- Volunteering opportunities to create positive change in local communities
The hub is available as a tile on MyDMU and also at this link. It will be updated regularly so why not check in and see what new wellbeing information and activities are available for you?
